The Veggie Patch...A New Beginning

Just a quickie!

The veggies (or at least some of them...) are in! I'm gonna do a little piece on my patch every couple of weeks to show the progress and what we've been up to. If you are in need of any tips or advice, please comment and i will try and help. I'm no expert but i do have experience in using small spaces to feed a family of four and using natural ways to deter pests instead of pesticides.

Obviously doesn't look like much at the mo, but it won't take long before it'll be blooming!

Outside we planted:

Peas
Broad Beans
Spinach
Purple Dwarf French Beans (they look awesome when growing but turn green when you cook them :o(...)

Inside we planted:

French Marigolds (they keep away aphids)
Nasturtiums (to attract caterpillars away from other plants)
Pansies
Sweet Peas
Sweet Peppers
Beetroot
Spring Onions
Courgette
Butternut Squash

So far the Marigolds have already sprouted (i probably shouldn't be as excited as i am but i'm the same every year!)

Do you do any grow your own?

Maybelline Coloursensational

The last glossybox I received had a nude colour in the Maybelline Coloursensational range, but I can't deal with nudes! I don't feel right unless I'm either wearing just lip balm or a strong lip colour! So my lovely friend Steffi agreed to swap with me... The naked brown is the shade I ended up with, I love it! It's got fab pigmentation and great moisture content. I think a brown is a much easier statement colour to wear than a red, pink or purple. The new clueless witch range coming out at the end of March by Limecrime (buy Limecrime here) consists of browns and darker natruals, all in the, go on wet and dry matt velvetines...I can't wait!!!!

What did you get in your beauty box that you were pleasantly surprised by?! Have I converted you to Limecrime yet?!!

Topshop VS Limecrime

If you've read my previous posts you will know how much I'm in love with Limecrime Velvetines. I recently had a makeup tutorial with the lovely ladies at Benefit and they mentioned that Topshop did a dupe of Limecrime! Obviously I ran full pelt straight to Topshop and bought the one recommended and two others for good measure. Here is a super quick review...

Left to right: Topshop Lip Paint in Tallulah
Topshop Velvet Lips in Plush
Topshop Gloss Ink in Cruel
Limecrime Velvetine in Red Velvet
Limecrime Velvetine in Pink Velvet

Limecrime Velvetine red velvet, my favourite, possibly the most perfect lip product ever... read full review here.

Topshop Velvet Lips in Plush. This was the one that was recommended as a dupe. Similarities are that it 'dries' matt...that's it... I wish I liked this product! The colour is awesome, but it's soooo hard to get even coverage! When it's on you can feel it on your lips and when you smile it kinda cracks. It makes my lips feel dry and if you put your lips together the colour transfers in odd ways making you look like when you were a toddler and stole your mum's lippy... so basically as long as you put it on, don't talk, don't smile and don't eat, you'll be fine.

Limecrime Velvetines in Pink velvet, buy it, it's amazeballs. Full review here.

Topshop Gloss Ink in Cruel, I'm not usually a fan of gloss but I LOVE this! The colour is great, really good pigmentation, it is sticky but not so much as to be irritating. It's reasonably easy to get even coverage and the wand makes shaping super simple. All in all for a non-gloss fan I'd give this 7/10! Go try it!

This is possibly the closest to the Limecrime in that it has strong pigmentation and a very similar colour. It is still more like a gloss, it doesn't dry matt, or dry at all really but it's not sticky or heavy. There isn't a massive price tag so I think this may be my new go to daily lippy! 8/10 from me!

I'm sad I haven't found a good Limecrime dupe but I'm excited to have found some new favourite glosses :0)

Have you tried any of these? Do you know of any Limecrime like lip stains?

London 'fashion' weekend?

London Fashion Weekend seems like an age ago now so I'm only going to do a quick run through and a mini (just for fun...) competition at the end :0) I saw  THE OUTNET show, here are some highlights...

Flower Power (pretty self explanatory, no?)

Lace Embrace (surely you don't need this one explaining either...)

Precious Metals (shiny stuff...)

Good Sport (translated = it's ok to wear trainers now)

This was my favourite outfit, it moved beautifully as this gorgeous model sashayed down the catwalk, the shape is super flattering and I love the belt detail.

On that note, what is this jacket? It looks suspiciously like the one I'm wearing in the photos below, and that wasn't a fashionable move by me...

I will give my...respect and whole hearted firm invisible handshake to all those who know who I am in this picture... GO

Eye bags, haircare and skin tryouts

H2K of Harrogate hydrating hair conditioner and conditioning shampoo

Loved this stuff, my hair felt smoother and softer and it didn't make it greasy at the roots, purrfect.

Anatomicals puffy the eye bag slayer under eye patches

An absute saviour, I need more of these immediately, they sit underneath your eyes and feel incredibly refreshing whilst actually doing their job! Bonus!

Nip + Fab spot fix

If you get breakouts...get this, nothing I've tried before has worked as well as this product. Pop it on your spotty bits and voila, pimple be gone (or at least reduced considerably, if you have a whopper...)

Monu illuminating primer

I'm not usually a primer fan, but have fallen a little bit in love with this. It keeps my foundation in place, has SPF and smoothes my skin, what more could you need?!

Premae Skincare harmony moisturising smoothie serum

Soft, smoothe skin with no irritation? Cruelty free and vegan? Sweet smelling, 100% natural lemongrass oil type of product? Can be used as a primer, or as a bb cream when mixed with foundation?! Could this company give you more?! Love...This...

Pancake tosser of the year!

Yesterday was pancake day and our salon competed in the (surprisingly competitive!) charity pancake race in Newbury. Local businesses take part in running a relay with pancake tossing in between. It's a fun afternoon, and brings back the feeling of community spirit, everyone can take part and I super enjoyed everyone's outfits. We were all really surprised we won over a team of minions! Personally I was going for the coveted 'tosser of the year award' but sadly that didn't PAN out, get it? (sorry...)  We did however win best dressed! I think it was the mixture of more mature judges, victory rolls and land girl outfits. Although we did get asked why we were dressed as umpa lumpers a lot to...

What's your favourite pancake filling?

Lush Gorilla Perfume

My first blogging beauty event! First of all, massive thankyou to Heather and Ryan (and Luke!) for arranging and leading the evening, you guys were pro hosts (the tea and chocolate helped to :0) !) I also super enjoyed meeting other bloggers and hearing about their blogs.

The evening was all about Gorilla perfume, which I had never smelled before, complete newbie.  I think the most interesting scent was The Bug. The main scent I get from The Bug is sandalwood but it also contains Labdanum, which causes a chemical reaction that compels you to smell it again! What's more, is that you get a different smell everytime... crazy but true, literally spent the car journey home sniffing various body parts...my own body parts, in case you were wondering.

My friend and i ended up being polar opposites on the perfume, it's amazing how different the perfumes are on different skin! You have to try them, let them settle, then sniff yourself again! Seriously, go into Lush and delight the staff by using there incredible knowledge to help pick your fave!

My favourite scents ended up be Lust, Breath of God and Sikim Girls.

There is a fab collection of mothers day and Easter gifts at Lush at the mo, (even if buying for ones self).  Suiting all budgets, you have everything from massage bars to 'mumkins' :0)

The fab goodie bag we received! Thank you Lush, this will be on me, maybe all at once...no final decisions have been made.

Favourite Lush products/perfumes? Things I should try?
